A Cacophony of Sensations…
July 2, 2009Danielle’s Dream:
I recently had this crazy sensory dream (where all my senses were overwhelmed). I was walking down a street and a couple of yards in front of me, the street had become lined in pink cherry blossom trees (or perhaps they were Dogwood) …absolutely FILLED…pink flower pedals were so abundant that I couldn’t even see the street. Once I was in the tunnel of trees, I couldn’t see the sky or the end of the cherry blossom tunnel.
So, I was walking down this street approaching said tunnel and the sky was the most crisp ceralean blue you could imagine. The sun was shining brightly and the grass was the greenest I have ever witnessed. I then stepped into the tunnel, and when I entered, I was lifted off my feet and was suddenly on my back, facing upwards, about 1.5 feet off the ground, floating down the street. There was a breeze that was tussling my hair and clothes all about and sending the fallen flower petals into the air and back into the tree tops, but there seemed to be an endless supply of them.
The air was so sweet-smelling I almost couldn’t stand it! Then I came to the end of the tunnel and as I floated out, still on my back, I was let out into the most gorgeous night. The stars were so bright and twinkly, and the air was warm… but the street now became a river (I was still floating about 1.5 feet above the surface) and the water was filled with lotus petal and floating paper lanterns. There were crickets in the background, while the water was lazily gliding under me and I just kept floating on.
Next, the water started going faster and louder and I came to the peak of a waterfall. I was like, “Oh, I’m about to fall off a waterfall!” and as I said that, I started shooting downwards at a near-vertical angle but I was falling into stars. I had that really scary weightless feeling of falling for a long time and was frightened of what was going to happen, so I woke myself up.
I’m upset that I didn’t have the will-power to break into enough lucidity to stay in the dream… but it was all OVER-sensory you know, as if I was trapped in all my senses experiencing things on an incredible level.
Danielle, I have heard of that “floating down the street on your back” aspect of this from one other person, a few years ago in a dream they had. I can’t remember if they were Lucid or not during that part. But your dream, with all the amazing imagery and colors and smells must have been amazing…like you indicated, even a bit TOO MUCH! I like how you described it as being “trapped” within your senses, and so were unable to achieve Lucidity and remain inside that dream. Thank you so much for sending that one in…

That was definitely an “E Ticket” ride!!! This one had all the makings of a lucid dream…sometimes it can be so overwhelming that it pops one out of that state and leaves a feeling of incompleteness to the experience. It sounds like you were about to enter deeper layers of the astral plane. I hope you can ride it out next time and bring back a cup of that magic to share! Very cool dream!
