Million Dollar Lotto Winner

September 10, 2011

Johanna’s Dream:

A while back, I had a dream about a man that I did not know, but had seen several times as a fellow customer in the grocery store. I dreamed that he was going to win over a million dollars in Lotto, and the point of the dream was for me to tell him this (I guess so he would keep playing).

I felt somewhat like an ass, but next time I noticed him in the store, I went up to him and told him, “I know this sounds strange, BUT the message in this dream was insistent, so …”

Turns out that he was indeed a regular Lotto player and he took my dream seriously, nodded, and thanked me.

Yesterday at the same grocery store, he bought a $20 scratch ticket and won over $1 million. Everyone at the store was so happy for him. It happened just before I got to the store. He had just left, but everyone was still all excited.
They told me that someone had just won over $1 mill and I said, “Was it a man? I wonder if it was the guy that I had a dream about…?”
It was.

Greyhound Bus and Loon Eggs

September 10, 2011

Dave’s Dream of October 15, 2010

This falls under the category Strange, rather than Lucid, dreams…

I was taking a Greyhound bus trip down to Key West, Florida. From where, I don’t know, but it was a LONG trip. It seemed, in the dream, that I had been on the bus for untold days.

There were Russian women and children on the bus, and at some point we pulled over, in order for them to go foraging. Foraging for what? Apparently, the very delectable eggs of the bird Loon. We all fanned out, and I followed a few of the women and their kids on the mission.

They gathered quite a few of these mysterious loon eggs, and we headed back towards the bus. Then they began eating some of these loon eggs, RAW, just as is, and offered me some. Since it was a dream, I gave it a try, and these acidic-tasting eggs were a horrible dream experience! Their nastiness of taste seemed SO real, it turned my dream stomach, and I began spitting them out! After that I began handing out the ones given to me to some of the women and children, and they were very grateful, and began scarfing them down as a true delicacy.

I was stunned, and a little sick from the taste and witnessing of it all.

This dream was, in a word, YUCK.

Lucid Dream of Flying

September 9, 2011

Dave’s Dream of Sept. 22, 2010

Yes, and not only flying, but flying around inside a giant building. I was lucid, flying and swooping, feeling free, doing many loops around this huge, cathedral-like enclosure, and I was lucid enough to ask for the appearance of Buddhist monks. Well, sure enough, soon there they were, several Buddhist monks, which as I flew by them, looked VERY realistic, with their shaved heads and orange robes.

I was somewhat disturbed by the fact that one of the monks especially looked a little pissed that I had somehow summoned them into my dream (but then again, maybe I was projecting…). I passed by them several times during my flight, and then the lucidity was gone, and I went back into some unconscious void…

Creation of a Brand New Squirrel

September 1, 2011

Dave’s Dream:

Beginning to process and input the last year-plus of dreams, the first of note was this one… from September 15, 2010

Walking up a mountain, dry with pines, I suddenly saw something move quickly out of the corner of my eye. Following the mysterious animal into the bush, a clearing soon opened up. Atop a rock was a squirrel-esque being, unfamiliar to me, with pointy ears, stripes like a chipmunk, and a striped and bushy tail.

I had a squirrel field guide with me and started flipping through the pages. Finally, there it was: The Mount Wasson Quail Squirrel. That had to be it. Right there in my handy field guide.

The only problem was… it was a dream, and I certainly had not discovered a new squirrel species. But I DID think it interesting that my dreaming mind used “Wasson”, since my ONLY connotation to that word is the last name of Gordon Wasson, a mycologist who, early on in the 50s and 60s, brought to America the wisdom of the shamanic and healing uses of mushrooms as practiced in Mexico.

Bizarre.

After a too-lengthy absence, I am going to fire up the blog again, posting my own dreams and comments. But…I can’t do it ALONE! So, I greatly hope to have contributions of strange and lucid dreams, dream information, and comments coming in from everyone.

To those who have expressed interest, thank you for your patience!

False Awakening and Pit Bull Attack

November 29, 2009

Dave’s Dream:

It all started with a real event earlier in the day: injuring my right hand at work. I was worried about the extent of the injury, so that night this manifested in my dreams…

In the dream, I was riding a bus of some type. A passenger came on board the bus, along with his pet pit bull. The dog was pacing about and then headed for me, barking, snapping, growling. I put out my hands to protect myself, but again and again, the pit bull attacked my hands. I yelled for help, and cursed the guy who brought the dog on the bus.

Then I had a false awakening, and was soaking in the bath tub down in Oregon. Looking at my hands, I could see they were covered with wounds. Then my right hand starting shooting out BLOOD at high pressure, it was going all over the place and wouldn’t stop. My friend grabbed some towels and we were trying to slow down the bleeding. I was REALLY scared, and said, “I’m losing too much blood!”

Then I had a REAL awakening, and was so thankful to be in my own bed, safe from the dream…phew!

Phoning a Dream Bureaucracy

November 24, 2009

Dave’s Dream:

Sometimes the subject matter of a dream is just SO bizarre and out-of-left-field, that I just can shake my head and go, “Where did that come from?”

That’s the case with a recent dream where inexplicably I was in charge of designing the packaging for an allergy medication. (To anyone who knows me and that I rarely even take medicine, this is doubly weird). But in the dream, that’s my job, so I set about contacting some “Dept. of Health” or other to discuss the labeling requirements and protocol, etc.

I reach a very nice woman at the Health Dept. — “Patti” — and we have an extended phone conversation about labeling rules. She also tells me it’s better if I deal directly with her, because of her two colleagues, one of whom is mean and the other just flat-out incompetent. So we set up an appointment and I get directions. which I believe I was writing down in the dream (and which might have caused me to wake up).

I don’t consciously recall a phone call — especially a long, detailed one — in one of my dreams before, and would definately put this one in the “Strange” folder.

A Lucid Dream where…

November 18, 2009

…absolutely nothing happens! I was in some strange abode where the front door went right out onto the driveway. I’m not sure what happened prior to this, but I opened the door and watched a red sporty convertible pull into the driveway and right up next to the door. The unusual thing was that this car had NO DRIVER.

So that did indeed trigger my skeptical mind, even in dream…and so I realized that I MUST be dreaming, and so was Lucid. But, for the life of me, I have no idea where this dream went post-lucidity. I don’t think I woke up right away, but in this case, even the power of Lucidity didn’t blossom forth as powerfully as I would have liked. Oh, well. Try, try, again.

A Dream Coma

October 30, 2009

Dave’s Dream:

The dream began innocently enough, riding in a truck in the snow with two guys I didn’t know. Soon, the driver lost control, and we smashed into several vehicles, and into an actual apartment building I used to live in here in Olympia.

Then I was walking around, no sign of the truck but there was serious damage to the building. The dream was turning partially lucid at this point. I didn’t think any of this was real, so to prove it I took off my pants and got out my wallet full of cash (it had to be a dream then!). I tried to talk to people but it was very hard. Finally I was able to communicate with a woman, asking her if she could see me. I believe she said yes.

Next I returned to my pants and wallet where I left them, but the money was now missing, so I wondered who the hell steals money in a dream!

Next thing I knew I was waking up (still inside the dream) in a hospital of sorts. My boss was there, telling me I had been in a coma and that it had been three weeks. I was all battered and bruised, and had a tube in my throat helping me breathe, which I was having trouble with and it kept getting disconnected. At one point I re-attached the tube, wrongly, and got a blast of fresh cold air (very vivid in the dream).

I was trying to explain the crash and wandering around after it as the last things I knew…and then I awoke for real.

Bussing around Germany

October 9, 2009

Dave’s Dream:

A dream of pure fantasy and sensation. For some reason I was with a group riding a giant bus around Germany. Apparently in the dream-world, Germany had annexed Switzerland or something because we were travelling through high and snowy mountains.

The key part of this dream was a physical sensation, over and over again. If you’ve ever been out on a country road that has various dips and rises in it, you’ll remember that feeling in your stomach when you go over a crest and your vehicle is airborne for a moment or two. Well multiply that feeling by about a hundred (!) and this dream was full of that, as this bus would launch itself off a mountainside and then pick back up on some road below. Luckily the dream was in Germany, so I had full faith in the driver’s ability and the transportation system, so could just experience these crazy and intense feelings without true panic. It was one intense ride!

Another funny aspect was that my love for VW busses also came through in my unconscious, as I spotted several in their native environment, tooling around in all their glory…
