Dave’s Dream:
It all started with a real event earlier in the day: injuring my right hand at work. I was worried about the extent of the injury, so that night this manifested in my dreams…
In the dream, I was riding a bus of some type. A passenger came on board the bus, along with his pet pit bull. The dog was pacing about and then headed for me, barking, snapping, growling. I put out my hands to protect myself, but again and again, the pit bull attacked my hands. I yelled for help, and cursed the guy who brought the dog on the bus.
Then I had a false awakening, and was soaking in the bath tub down in Oregon. Looking at my hands, I could see they were covered with wounds. Then my right hand starting shooting out BLOOD at high pressure, it was going all over the place and wouldn’t stop. My friend grabbed some towels and we were trying to slow down the bleeding. I was REALLY scared, and said, “I’m losing too much blood!”
Then I had a REAL awakening, and was so thankful to be in my own bed, safe from the dream…phew!

Dave’s Dream:
Sometimes the subject matter of a dream is just SO bizarre and out-of-left-field, that I just can shake my head and go, “Where did that come from?”
That’s the case with a recent dream where inexplicably I was in charge of designing the packaging for an allergy medication. (To anyone who knows me and that I rarely even take medicine, this is doubly weird). But in the dream, that’s my job, so I set about contacting some “Dept. of Health” or other to discuss the labeling requirements and protocol, etc.
I reach a very nice woman at the Health Dept. — “Patti” — and we have an extended phone conversation about labeling rules. She also tells me it’s better if I deal directly with her, because of her two colleagues, one of whom is mean and the other just flat-out incompetent. So we set up an appointment and I get directions. which I believe I was writing down in the dream (and which might have caused me to wake up).
I don’t consciously recall a phone call — especially a long, detailed one — in one of my dreams before, and would definately put this one in the “Strange” folder.

…absolutely nothing happens! I was in some strange abode where the front door went right out onto the driveway. I’m not sure what happened prior to this, but I opened the door and watched a red sporty convertible pull into the driveway and right up next to the door. The unusual thing was that this car had NO DRIVER.
So that did indeed trigger my skeptical mind, even in dream…and so I realized that I MUST be dreaming, and so was Lucid. But, for the life of me, I have no idea where this dream went post-lucidity. I don’t think I woke up right away, but in this case, even the power of Lucidity didn’t blossom forth as powerfully as I would have liked. Oh, well. Try, try, again.

Dave’s Dream:
The dream began innocently enough, riding in a truck in the snow with two guys I didn’t know. Soon, the driver lost control, and we smashed into several vehicles, and into an actual apartment building I used to live in here in Olympia.
Then I was walking around, no sign of the truck but there was serious damage to the building. The dream was turning partially lucid at this point. I didn’t think any of this was real, so to prove it I took off my pants and got out my wallet full of cash (it had to be a dream then!). I tried to talk to people but it was very hard. Finally I was able to communicate with a woman, asking her if she could see me. I believe she said yes.
Next I returned to my pants and wallet where I left them, but the money was now missing, so I wondered who the hell steals money in a dream!
Next thing I knew I was waking up (still inside the dream) in a hospital of sorts. My boss was there, telling me I had been in a coma and that it had been three weeks. I was all battered and bruised, and had a tube in my throat helping me breathe, which I was having trouble with and it kept getting disconnected. At one point I re-attached the tube, wrongly, and got a blast of fresh cold air (very vivid in the dream).
I was trying to explain the crash and wandering around after it as the last things I knew…and then I awoke for real.

Dave’s Dream:
A dream of pure fantasy and sensation. For some reason I was with a group riding a giant bus around Germany. Apparently in the dream-world, Germany had annexed Switzerland or something because we were travelling through high and snowy mountains.
The key part of this dream was a physical sensation, over and over again. If you’ve ever been out on a country road that has various dips and rises in it, you’ll remember that feeling in your stomach when you go over a crest and your vehicle is airborne for a moment or two. Well multiply that feeling by about a hundred (!) and this dream was full of that, as this bus would launch itself off a mountainside and then pick back up on some road below. Luckily the dream was in Germany, so I had full faith in the driver’s ability and the transportation system, so could just experience these crazy and intense feelings without true panic. It was one intense ride!
Another funny aspect was that my love for VW busses also came through in my unconscious, as I spotted several in their native environment, tooling around in all their glory…

K’s dream:
My son and the neighbor girl were in the front yard playing and I decided to check on them. I went outside and it was in the early glow of twilight. As I walked towards them, I noticed movement in the corner of my eye and looked over towards my neighbor’s yard. I saw a very large bear foraging around. I quickly estimated that if it were to stand on its hind legs that it would measure well near 8 feet tall. It was brown with lighter brown molting fur about its back, although I was unsure if it was a brown or black bear. Either way, a bear of any kind less than 20 yards from my house, with kids out in the yard, was a definite call for alarm!
I immediately called to the kids to come inside. They didn’t seem to hear the urgency in my voice and continued playing, so I pointed out that a bear was in the yard and that they better come in quickly! They reluctantly agreed. After I saw that the kids were safe in the house, I noticed that the majority of my neighbors were across the street, sitting in lawn chairs, enjoying cold drinks, and facing the on- coming bear. Everyone seemed entertained and not the least fearful by the bear’s visit. I looked back to see the location of the bear and realized that the one bear had now turned into five and they were all headed my way! I ran back into the house to check on the kids, but I couldn’t resist looking outside just one more time.
I stepped out on my porch and noticed that a large white big rig and consession van had suddenly set up shop. They had already erected tables, chairs, and umbrellas, like a food court in my driveway. There were cooks and bakers dressed in white and busily going about their work. The rig was opened on its side and shelves with every kind of meat and pastry filled my view. I couldn’t imagine what this was all about, but I set about warning anyone who would listen that bears were coming! No one seemed to care. I looked over to where the bears were, and they were just beginning to climb into my yard. I knew that the food would be a major attraction and yelled out one last shriek of warning before hightailing it inside my house! The last thing I remember is locking the door and closing the curtains. I didn’t want the kids to see how it would all turn out…

Dave’s Dream:
At least I ended August with a blast — and a literal one at that. The creativity and “special effects” of the dreaming mind never cease to amaze me, and this morning’s dream was a case in point.
Somehow, in the dream I was witnessing a launch and then journey of a deep space probe…first the fast trip through amazing clouds, then our solar system, and finally into some truly unknowm realm. The probe was travelling through an intensely colorful and vibrant “universe” that reminded me also of an undersea world…dynamic and huge jellyfish kept appearing on this trip, and other soft and changing sea-shapes were always coming into the picture. It went on and on and was incredible.
I woke up right after and could only say, Wow…

Danielle’s Dreams:
For the last couple of nights, I have been doing the strangest things in my dreams! I can now suddenly “open” multiple dreams at once, like have different books in front of me. It seems to be three “book” dreams that I have going all at once that I flip back and forth between.
I have been pretty lucid in them which is also a pleasant surprise. One of the books is a funny one where it looks just like my room except my bed is like ‘base’ in the game ‘Tag’ where, when one of the other two books starts to turn UN-lucid, I flip over to this base book where my bed turns into a pillow/airplane chaise lounge-esque chair that calms me down and regroups me in order to enter the other books with full lucidity. It’s definately weird and I can tell it makes no “sense,” but I am still new to the this break-through and am still researching and exploring it.
Also, I’ve been having a reoccuring theme in my non-lucid dreams where I am trapped inside of a giant and ornate cuckoo clock. where I try to escape on the platform that the little figurines run out on (the little people that dance or chop wood or something every hour when they exit the clock and make a full rotation back into the clock) but it’s always way too fast and I end up back trapped inside the clock before I even realize it.
Soon, I am running around the giant clock looking for a way out and always stumble upon a room of mirrors. I look in them and I’m just a porcelain doll with black holes where my eyes should be (which is really scary to be LOOKING at the area where you KNOW there are eyes since you are LOOKING out of them, but you see nothing there). Next, I hear the chimes and the tick-tock of the clock over and over again, andfeel drugged in some way. I don’t think I would consider this particular dream a nightmare, but it’s definitely a weird and unsettling one.

Kevin’s Dream:
I had a dream last night that I was back in the town that I grew up in, Slovato. I was driving around in an old blue Ford truck that I owned until 15 years ago when it met its untimely death, although the dream was clearly in the present. I’m driving around the neighborhood of an old friend, but I’m lost in a maze of streets that I can’t find my way out of. Somehow, I wind up in a cul-de-sac without an exit at all, and I’m reduced to driving in circles.
One of Slovato’s finest, an absolutely beautiful blonde and who is vaguely familiar, is walking her police beat around the neighborhood, seemingly oblivious to my circling. I park my truck and walk up to her and inquire how to get to the Slovato Boulevard, which I can now see and hear over the fence of one of the houses.
“I dunno,” is all she says and keeps right on walking.
Dumbfounded, I turn back to my truck, which is now three times its normal size and has taken on a cartoon-ish, monster truck appearance. I climb aboard, utterly bewildered, and turn on the ignition. The truck lurches forward and crushes the car in front of it, then puts itself in reverse and pancakes the car behind of it. Both cars have been reduced to piles of junk in a matter of seconds.
A woman — the same woman who played Seinfeld’s mom on the old sitcom– comes charging out of her house waving her arms angrily and screaming at me. I can see her lips move, but she is mute. The beautiful cop walks by us, oblivious …

Dave’s Dream:
I was at work, and the backdoor was open letting in light, and all of a sudden things got noticeably darker outside. I went outside and it was snowing! Big heavy flakes coming down. For some reason, I climbed up onto a pile of rickety furniture that was out in the parking lot to take it all in.
The snow let up, so I went back to work. My boss was giving me a phone number that I had to write down. So I tried. But I couldn’t get the numbers I was writing down to match what she was saying. I tried several times, even turned the page over to try some more. No luck.
I said, “My mind isn’t working too well.” I asked, “Is this an order I have to place? An emergency contact number? Give me something.” I guess I was hoping for motivation to be able to write down these numbers…
That was all, because real-life noisy lawn equipment shattered it after that. But I remember reading or hearing that in “testing” a dream in order to achieve lucidity, that trying to write down numbers is a good way to tell, because numbers apparently don’t work so well with the dream mind.
